Sequel is Fun, Easy to Use, and Offers Crystal Clear
Video for Under $2000, DV Option Available Now
CARLSBAD, CA (Sept. 8, 2000) -- Applied Magic is now shipping Sequel,
its entry-level video editing appliance. Released this week, Sequel
is a complete, PC-free video editor designed to optimize video production
while eliminating the long learning curve and system configuration
hassles that users often encounter with computer-based editors. A
DV-1394 option is available now for all models and additional software
upgrades will soon be available for all models.
"Sequel is extremely easy to use and will
appeal to individuals, families and companies looking for a potent
entry-level video editing solution," said Paul Wickman,
chief operating officer for San Diego area-based Applied Magic. "Sequel
is highly affordable, while offering editors crystal clear video and
real time edits, transitions, titles, color effects and special effects
-- all at point and click speed."
A set-top box resembling a VCR, Sequel has many of the features of
Applied Magic's premier editor, ScreenPlay ($3,995). Videomaker magazine
honored ScreenPlay by choosing it as "The TurnKey Nonlinear Editing
Appliance of 1999."
Ease of use and affordability aside, Sequel's key feature is its real-time
effects engine that eliminates rendering, thus greatly reducing the
time it takes to complete a polished video production. Sequel's other
features include:
-
Simple trim, cut and paste, drop and drag commands.
-
Real-time transitions and special effects and color effects.
-
A titler with multiple style adjusters e.g. font style and sizing,
drop shadow, outline.
-
An intuitive and easy-to-navigate user interface.
-
The ability to operate with either a VGA monitor or television.
Sequel's
high quality production capabilities make it an ideal tool for the
education, religious and small business markets -- companies, groups
and individuals looking to incorporate the benefits of an in-house
media department without the high cost or steep learning curve associated
with more elaborate video editing production systems.
"Companies, schools and religious groups are recognizing the value
in creating video content for informing, inspiring and educating their
publics," said Wickman. "But many of these groups do not have
the money, time, staff or video editing expertise to support an in-house
media department. Sequel eliminates these barriers and more."
The first entry-level editor to offer real-time functionality across
its feature set, Sequel comes in three models beginning at $1,995
for the 10GB model. Each model ships with a custom keyboard and mouse.
