Klieg Lights & Megabytes: The Festival Moves to an Exciting New Venue -- The Hollywood Athletic Club, and Screenings Return to the Directors Guild of America

Yahoo Film FestivalNEW YORK, NY (Dec. 4, 2000) -- The Yahoo! Internet Life Online Film Festival returns to Hollywood for its second walk down the red carpet, Wednesday, March 21 and Thursday, March 22, 2001.  The Festival is a two-day real-world exploration of on and off-line filmmaking that defines the trends and unveils the future of entertainment.  This year's event goes live from the legendary Hollywood Athletic Club and the prestigious Directors Guild of America Theater (DGA). Film submissions in all categories are being taken now at www.yilfilmfestival.com.

The Festival's mission is to connect and celebrate the people, companies and technologies in the film community making significant strides in the ever-changing world of entertainment.  The lineup for the 2-day Yahoo! Internet Life Online Film Festival follows:
 
EXHIBITS: A showcase exhibition in which online film companies, studios, digital technology companies, and other film-related sites will exhibit their Web presence and/or innovative technologies in unique "living room" spaces created by Festival organizers at The Hollywood Athletic Club.
 
FILM SCREENINGS: At the DGA, the Festival will screen the innovative work of filmmakers who were selected from a call of entries and who are creating compelling entertainment for the 21st Century.
 
CONFERENCE: The Showcase Room at The Hollywood Athletic Club will feature the panel discussions and keynotes where film luminaries and industry influencers discuss the most current issues in entertainment.
 
PARTIES: Numerous events celebrating this unique gathering from impromptu cocktail parties to the final-night awards ceremony.
 
The Festival is now accepting submissions in the following categories; Feature/Fiction, Feature/Documentary, Feature/Animation, Short/Fiction, Short/Documentary, Short/Animation and the OFFShort -- new in 2001, the OFFShorts competition is open to films under 10 minutes that have been developed expressly to debut at the Festival. Selected shorts will be screened online at Yahoo! Movies, http://movies.yahoo.com, for a one month pre-festival period.  Votes will be cast online nationally by the public and by the official Festival Jury.  The Festival programming will be a combination of the winning features and shorts chosen from the competition. Selected OFFShorts will be programmed as a looped series on screens to be viewed throughout all Festival venues. Prizes will be awarded on the final night awards ceremony.
