Iomega Ships Predator External CD-RW Drive

 
FireWire/IEEE 1394 Model to be Available in Q1 2001; USB 2.0 and PCMCIA Adapters to Follow Later in the Year

ROY, UT --(Dec. 20, 2000)-- Iomega Corporation announced the Iomega Predator CD-RW drive is now shipping in the U.S. The Iomega Predator CD-RW drive, which debuted as a crowd favorite at Comdex last month in Las Vegas, is now shipping for availability on select U.S. retail shelves in early January 2001, for $269.95 (U.S. estimated retail price).  The external CD-RW drive is also available at iomegadirect.com, and will begin shipping in Asia, Europe and Latin America in February 2001.

Iomega Predator CD-RWThe versatile new Predator 8X4X32X CD-RW drive supports popular interfaces by using interchangeable adapters.  It is currently shipping with a USB 1.1 adapter offering 4X4X6X performance, the maximum re-write and read speeds for the USB 1.1 interface.  A FireWire/IEEE 1394 adapter model will also be available in the first quarter of 2001 for $329.95  (U.S. estimated retail price), with USB 2.0 and PCMCIA adapters to follow later in the year.

The Predator is compatible with PC and Macintosh platforms and sets a new standard for leading edge design, following in the foot steps of Zip, Jaz and other award-winning Iomega products.  The comprehensive software suite includes Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.0, Adaptec DirectCD 3.0, Adaptec Toast, MusicMatch Jukebox Plus, MGI PhotoSuite, Iomega Quik Sync 2 software (30-day trial version) and Adobe ActiveShare software.
