Twelve Processors Result in Faster than Real-Time Rendering
|
MUNICH
(Oct. 23, 2000) --- FAST Multimedia AG of Munich, Germany has provided
an improvement for accelerating effects on the silver. and purple.
nonlinear editing systems. Systems can now be equipped with a second
InTime processing board. With this enhancement, silver. and purple.
now have a total of twelve additional processors available for image
rendering, offering a level of speed during processing unattainable
in the past. "purple.InTime" and "silver.InTime"
will be available from authorized FAST dealers beginning November
1.
Processing
Speeds Faster than Real-Time
With FAST-engineered "InTime Processing" technology, the
capacity of the processors available in the system can be used entirely
for image processing. Integrating the additional second InTime board
results in a virtual two-fold increase in speed for all FAST-engineered
effect editors, including 2D, 3D, Key, Wipe, Color, and Filter Editors.
By using all twelve processors, specific parameters such as cropping,
scaling, or color correction can be rendered faster than real-time;
and editors can see and play the result even during processing.
State-of-the-Art
Picture Quality Provided by Software
The outstanding picture quality offered by FASTstudio is based on
optimized software-based effect rendering, a feature that FAST has
focused on from the very beginning. In addition to the benefits achieved
regarding quality, FAST software-based effects provide greater flexibility
for the optimization and updating of rendering algorithms. As the
incorporation of "silver.FX" and "purple.FX" has
demonstrated, new effects are easily integrated. With a second InTime
board, the concept of software-based effect rendering has been expanded
by yet another milestone. Additionally, effects can be used in any
combination without limitations and loss of quality.
