CUPERTINO, Calif
(Aug. 20, 2001) -- Apple is shipping its Power Mac G4 computer with dual 800 MHz PowerPC G4 processors with Velocity Engine. The 800 MHz dual processor Power Mac G4 includes Apple's SuperDrive, a combination CD-RW/DVD-R drive that enables users to burn DVDs that can be played in consumer DVD players.
Dual processor Power Mac G4 systems benefit from the symmetric multiprocessing capability of Mac OS X, Apple's next-generation operating system. The new Power Mac G4 can do up to twice as much work in the same amount of time by automatically balancing the workload between both processors simultaneously.
