Online Movie Studio MyMovieIdea.com Brings Your Ideas to the Big Screen

MyMovieIdea.com logoLOS ANGELES, Calif. (Mar. 01, 2001) -- Have you ever watched a movie and thought to yourself, "I could do better"? Well, here is your chance. MyMovieIdea.com gives you the big Hollywood break you've been dreaming of -- the opportunity to see your movie ideas become major motion pictures.

MyMovieIdea.com has secured millions of dollars in production financing and is waiting to finance your great movie ideas.

Hollywood executives who have worked on such movies as "Return To Paradise," "The Hurricane" and "The Watcher" have partnered with Silicon Valley to launch MyMovieIdea.com, the first ongoing online service that will turn ideas from the general public into feature films. While most Hollywood studios and production companies refuse to receive movie ideas from just anyone, MyMovieIdea.com welcomes ideas from the general public. The online site has secured a multi-million dollar financing commitment from Hollywood production company Interlight Partners to ensure the opportunity that the pitches they receive and picked will actually get made.

Recently in Park City for the Sundance Film Festival, MyMovieIdea.com co-sponsored a party in association with Grammy Award-winning singer Macy Gray for the film "MacArthur Park" directed by Billy Wirth. Guests included Mick Jagger, Billy Zane, Stephen Baldwin, Julie Delpy and Sticky Fingaz.

"We believe that great movie ideas can come from anyone. So, we're providing people across America with the access and financing they need to see their Hollywood dream realized," explains Steven Whitney, President of MyMovieIdea.com. "All you need is your idea, Internet access and a Web browser. MyMovieIdea.com will do the rest." Before launching this Web-based service, Whitney served as a successful talent manager and agent to a number of stars, writers and directors.

"MyMovieIdea.com offers direct access to Hollywood from anywhere in the United States," added Clark Peterson, Senior Vice President of Interlight Partners. "If you've ever seen a movie and have a great concept for a story, we want your ideas."

MyMovieIdea.com invites anyone, anywhere -- from Alaska to Puerto Rico -- to submit a movie idea. For about the price of a movie ticket, MyMovieIdea.com will register and carefully review any idea of 250 words or less. The Web site's technology provided by PitchWare, Inc. protects the ideas and ensures users' privacy. Ideas will not be accessed by anyone outside of MyMovieIdea.com without prior consent, and submitters retain all rights to their ideas until they are selected for production.

"MyMovieIdea.com is looking for all kinds of ideas, from great love stories to little league triumphs, from real life dramas to the dream you had last night," explained Nile Niami, co-founder of the Web site and producer of the recent thriller "The Watcher." Niami added, "Hollywood needs some fresh ideas and this is the perfect forum to garner them."

The submitter of an idea selected for production will be paid $50,000, flown to Hollywood (where he or she will receive a personalized monogrammed director's chair) and given the opportunity to participate in the making of the movie. The submitter will also see his or her name on the big screen at the movie's premiere.

The company's founders explain that MyMovieIdea.com is an on-going service, not a "one shot deal." "We will select great ideas as they come in," explained Whitney, "and we'll keep selecting new ones. But we're hungry for ideas, and may find a great one as soon as tomorrow."
