a new consumer video editing system, to its desktop product line. Adaptec's
goal is to bring the power of digital video to more consumers by providing
a product that is easy to use. Priced at under $100, DVpics is a high-quality
digital video editing kit for editing digital camcorder home movies.
Developed with consumers in mind, DVpics appeals to everyone from home video enthusiasts to business professionals. Users can attach a digital camera directly to a PC and create videos with a personal touch. Video can be captured directly from the digital camcorder and edited to add titles, graphics, music and special effects. Capture any occasion for family and friends in a short movie that can be shared through videotape, CD, DVD or via the World Wide Web.
DVpics includes Adaptec's FireConnect 4300 adapter card, MGI's VideoWave 4 SE consumer digital video editing software for Windows, an Adaptec-tested six- to four-pin FireWire/1394 cable and has a five-year Adaptec warranty.
MGI's VideoWave software offers special effects and editing tools that make it easier to capture, edit, produce and share video content. A new "scene detection" feature automatically cuts video into usable "takes." This unique feature speeds up the editing process and leaves users time to focus on adding special effects and other personal touches to home videos.
Adaptec's FireConnect 4300 card is a 3-port, 400Mbit/sec FireWire/1394 host adapter for PCs and Macs that provides plug-and-play connectivity for all FireWire devices. FireWire-enabled devices are hot-pluggable which means that users do not have to turn off a computer to disconnect or connect devices. It makes adding FireWire/1394/I-Link devices like digital video camcorders, hard drives, scanners, CD-RWs and other peripherals to computers a snap.
