| 1394 Trade Association Sets Annual Developers' Conference | ||

CLARA, CA (Mar. 08, 2001) -- The 1394 Trade Association today announced
that it will hold its annual 1394 Developers' Conference at Microsoft
headquarters July 31 through Aug. 2. The conference will feature a broad range of presentations about the recently introduced wireless 1394 initiatives, new automotive applications, 1394.1 bridging design, and other topics. There will be also be design presentations focused on the new 1394b specification, which defines bandwidths of 800 Megabits/second with scalability to 3.2 Gigabit/second, along with longer cable lengths and backward compatibility with all versions of the 1394 standard. It is being designed to provide information to engineers who want a basic understating of the technologies and the enabling scenarios to those interested in optimizing hardware design and software drivers to marketing and compliance and interoperability. New this year will be a design workshop to help engineers initiate designs easily and efficiently. Also, Apple Computer and Microsoft will host driver writing sessions, and a Marketing and Management track will cover the latest market developments and provide tools for marketing 1394 products in the current environment. Contributors will also include Texas Instruments, Agere, Sony, Panasonic, LSI Logic, and many others. The event marks the fifth year of the annual 1394 Developers' Conference, which began in 1997 in San Jose. It will be held in the Conference Center on the main Microsoft campus in Redmond, beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31. As in past 1394 TA conferences, the 2001 1394 Developers' Conference will include a complete demonstration gallery featuring all of the latest 1394-enabled products and technologies.
