TORRANCE,
CA (Feb. 28, 2001) -- Ulead Systems, Inc. announced today that Matrox
Graphics Inc. has chosen to bundle Ulead's VideoStudio SE video editing
software with its new Matrox Marvel G450 eTV card. This card is an "all-in-one"
graphics card for the home entertainment and SOHO computer markets. "We're seeing a strong interest in today's households to have the capability to create and share personalized Web videos," said Kamran Ahmed, senior manager, strategic marketing and product management for Matrox Graphics. "It's important to offer Marvel G450 eTV users the ability to edit and enhance their captured footage. Ulead VideoStudio SE's easy approach to video editing is perfect for our audience." Together, the Matrox Marvel G450 eTV and Ulead VideoStudio SE offer users the ability to create their own personalized videos. Footage may be captured from a VCR, TV or video camera with the Marvel G450 eTV. Ulead VideoStudio SE allows users to edit video segments as well as add titles, music, credits and special effects. Additionally, with the Marvel G450 eTV, users can preview edited clips full-screen to a TV during the editing process. The movies can then be saved in a wide variety of formats for tape, CD or Web distribution. In addition to a video capture device, the Matrox Marvel G450 eTV acts as a personal video recorder, offering timeshifting with a picture-in-picture feature. The Matrox Marvel G450 eTV can also be used for entertainment and gaming, as it supports high-quality DVD playback full-screen on TV in DualHead DVDMax mode. Ulead VideoStudio's direct control and support for IEEE-1394 devices enables users to capture and output DV format video from DV camcorders using inexpensive Firewire or iLink input cards. VideoStudio integrates GoMotion from Ligos Technology, the most advanced real-time MPEG-1/MPEG-2 software codec available. This integration is seamless, allowing scalable MPEG-2 compression that delivers high quality video at lower data rates on Pentium computers with no added compression hardware. Finally, VideoStudio imports the popular audio format, MP3, for background music and sound effects in video productions. Products and Availability The street price for Ulead VideoStudio is US$99. The Matrox Marvel G450 eTV will be available during the first quarter of 2001 for US$265 ESP.
