Matrox Demonstrates RTMac at Macworld Expo

Real Time DV Editing with Real Time Effects for the Power Mac G4

RTMac iBoxSAN FRANCISCO (Jan. 9, 2001) -- Matrox Video Products Group will demonstrate the new Matrox RTMac card here at Macworld Expo, Moscone Convention Center, in booth 3341. Matrox RTMac is the first PCI video card for real time digital video (DV) editing on the Macintosh. The RTMac, created by Matrox and Apple engineers, is tightly integrated with Apple's Final Cut Pro video creation software to provide real time editing, effects, and compositing. Real time broadcast-quality effects include transitions and keyframeable scaling, rotation, cropping, perspective, and opacity. Matrox RTMac, available in Spring 2001, is priced at $995 US in North America. Fully configured systems are expected to start at under $5,000.

In addition to real time native DV editing, the Matrox RTMac card supplements the built-in FireWire capabilities of the Power Mac G4 with composite and S-Video analog video capture and export.  It also provides support for a second computer display for extended desktop real estate; and offers full-quality, real time video playback on a computer display and NTSC/PAL monitor simultaneously.
