HOLLYWOOD,
CA (Jan. 29, 2001) -- Dr. Rawstock announced its newest corporate
addition, The Digital Division, a world-class digital editing and training
center in Hollywood, designed to bring the latest advancements in production
and post-production technology to the filmmaking world. "Our new training center is based on the combined creative power of Apple's Final Cut Pro and the Mac, which will be the initial training ground for the next generation of filmmakers," said Lowell Kay, president of Dr. Rawstock. Since 1993, the main focus of the company's dramatic growth has been its leadership as one of the largest buyers and sellers in Hollywood of high-quality motion picture raw stock and videotape for all levels of filmmakers. "The hallmarks of our film and tape stock business, personal service, expertise and affordable pricing, are behind the expansion of our new Digital Division," added Kay. "It is our mission to provide the latest tools and expertise that will help bring the next generation of filmmaker's vision and dreams to life." In the past year, Kay has been working with entertainment industry leaders to further the development of systems in the area of editing, digital media and Web enhancement tools needed to promote the next generation of filmmakers taught at the new Hollywood facility. "Other editing training centers have invested heavily in AVID and are now locked into that editing system as their main focus," noted Kay. "We believe that Final Cut Pro and the Mac constitute the next generation of non-linear editing which offer more economical features, power and portability while offering a user-friendlier interface for the editor. Using formats from DV, film and HD, we believe that Final Cut Pro is going to dramatically change the way storytellers digitally edit their film and video projects." The company's new state-of-the-art training facility in Hollywood includes 8,000 square feet of creative and learning space. There are six edit suites available 24/7 and a Final Cut Pro training room equipped with 10 Apple G4 editing systems, two overhead projectors and a master station for the instructor. The new training center also includes a seminar room that holds 105 people with video projection and 5.1Surround-Sound amplification for DVDs. New digital cameras, editing systems, computers, software, communications devices and distribution channels are revolutionizing the business of creative expression. Cable/Satellite channels will continue to expand, and Web streaming will soon be mainstream. The creation of new programming for these insatiable markets will be in the hands of those who master the new digital tools of the trade. Dr. Rawstock, The Digital Division, is a complete training, rental and sales resource for digital filmmakers. Short, simple lessons, which enhance creativity, combined with plenty of "hands on" time, take the mystery out of new digital equipment and encourage mastery of the newest media.
